DAY 1 - Arrival in Vinhais: Arrival at the hotel and time to settle into the peaceful atmosphere of the region. Take a gentle walk through the historic village, enjoy the surrounding landscapes and prepare for the days of exploration ahead. DAY 2 - Montesinho Village & Forest Trails: Your first hike introduces the cultural and natural heritage of Montesinho. The route passes through traditional stone villages, quiet pastures and oak forests where local life still follows ancient rhythms. DAY 3 - Rio de Onor borderlands Trail: Discover the fascinating border village of Rio de Onor, where Portuguese and Spanish traditions coexist. The trail follows riverside paths and agricultural land, offering a glimpse into a unique rural community. DAY 4 - Montesinho Mountain Ridge: Today’s route climbs into the Montesinho mountain range. From the ridge, sweeping views extend across the vast landscapes of Trás-os-Montes, one of Portugal’s most untouched regions. DAY 5 - Natural Trails & Final Exploration: On your final hiking day, choose between two different experiences: Option A – Vinhais Biological Park Trail (A relaxed walk through forests and wildlife habitats, ideal for observing local biodiversity) or Option B – Sanábria Mountain Route (A longer and more challenging trail through rugged landscapes near the Spanish border, perfect for experienced hikers seeking a final adventure).
